WE LOST, BUT IT FELT GOOD

Today our Middle School Boys basketball team played a team in New Port Richy, Fl. We lost by a dozen points, give or take, but one moment in the game made it less painful. With time running down we called a timeout. During this timeout one of the Refs came over and said, " the other team has a mentally handicap kid, if it's okay with you can we call a made up foul so he can shoot foul shots." Being down with only 8 minutes we allowed the request. The play started and shortly after here comes the call. Ref blows the whistle. " Foul on #10 against his own teamate #1, Two shots." If you know about basketball you will know why this is funny. Someone on the same team cannot foul another player on his team. So not only did the foul not count against us because none of our players actually commited a foul, but this kid would have the chance in the spotlight. He line up, bounces the ball a couple of times, and swish! Makes his first foul shot. Everyone in the place clapped and cheared. He missed his second foul shot and the other team recovered the ball and held it until the clock ran out.
