#1 Dunker in the NBA, and here is why
Other than MJ, I have never seen a player who can sore over people with ease and slam it home like Vince Carter. at 6'6 220 lbs Vince is the closest to MJ I have seen (MJ at 6'6 about 200lbs at his prime) Vince is in his 13th seaon in the NBA and can still get up! With a Vertical Jump on 43 inches (about 3.583 feet) no wonder why Vince is still throwing down on people. In the 2000 Olympics Vince jumped over a 7'2 guy for a slam. Check out the video!

WE LOST, BUT IT FELT GOOD
Today our Middle School Boys basketball team played a team in New Port Richy, Fl. We lost by a dozen points, give or take, but one moment in the game made it less painful. With time running down we called a timeout. During this timeout one of the Refs came over and said, " the other team has a mentally handicap kid, if it's okay with you can we call a made up foul so he can shoot foul shots." Being down with only 8 minutes we allowed the request. The play started and shortly after here comes the call. Ref blows the whistle. " Foul on #10 against his own teamate #1, Two shots." If you know about basketball you will know why this is funny. Someone on the same team cannot foul another player on his team. So not only did the foul not count against us because none of our players actually commited a foul, but this kid would have the chance in the spotlight. He line up, bounces the ball a couple of times, and swish! Makes his first foul shot. Everyone in the place clapped and cheared. He missed his second foul shot and the other team recovered the ball and held it until the clock ran out.

Talk Of The Town
I'm not going to say a whole lot about this guy. Anyone who is a basketball fan and somewhat keeps up with pro basketball has heard of Jeremy Lin. Lin who receiving no athletic scholorsip offers out of high school and being undrafted out of college, the Harvard University graduate reached a partially guaranteed contract deal with his hometown Golden State Worriers.Lin bounced around the NBA Development Leauge. Once Lin got invited to a team he was fighting for a shot. Most of the time fighting for the back up or back ups back up on the roster. Lin announces his christianity openly which makes im a good player to me. Here are some videos of Lin playing. You can see why the hype has brewed about this young player. Jeremy Lin-6'3 200lbs

Using God's Gift in any situation( or sport)
#4 and #54 are no longer with us
Use your gifts and talents in life for others. In basketball you want to finish first. In life you should want to finish third. God, Others, then Yourself.
Funny NBA logos
The NBA logo has so much history and is probably the most recognized logo in all of sports. If a friend were to ask you "who is the player on the NBA logo?" and you didn't know, then you probably shouldn't consider yourself a serious NBA fan. So to make the logo relevant to a new generation of fans, we threw out a few options...
7. The GO-Hawk - We'd loved this hair, but starting out your first and entire season on the bench after being chosen #1 overall pretty much knocks this one from ever receiving consideration for an NBA logo.
6. The Game Winner - As Blazer fan this would be the most amazing logo ever, but unlikely seeing as he's only in his 3rd year. Although the shot he made that was inspiration behind this logo definitely warrants some consideration right?
5. The Flying Miller Lite - Fighting is definitely not an option if becoming a logo has crossed your mind. Oh, and getting hit by beer cups also isn't.
4. The Superman - Oh Superman.
3. The Can You Digg it! - Maybe someday, but the quotes,
2. The Defensive Stopper -Heck no. This would be a disgrace to the game.
1. The Future - I think we may have a winner. Can't you see this happening somewhere in the future? Class act, ambassador to bowling, and one great ball player.
Your thoughts? Any of these players stand a chance at making the logo?
We Play Kids Our Own Age
Several games into the season and we have not won a game yet. We are a developing team and most (if not all) of the teams we play against play higher grade and age students. This one particular team we played today had a kid..#1 is what we will call him, who was in the 11th grade. He met the age limit to play, but he should be (and I believe he also) playing on high school varsity. #1 thought he was hot stuff for running up the score on a bunch of middle schoolers and our one 9th grader. Everytime the kid scored he would run down the court with a silly grin on his face as if he was thinking " I am MJ." Coaching for a Christain School the way we conduct ourselves is very important. The kids, understandably, were frustrated with the out come of the game. We told them at this point. "Dont foul too hard, but foul hard". That's at least what I told them. "If they push, push back", I said. The opposing coach sat on his bench smiling and joking around with his players. Up by at least 30, #1 felt even more cocky. His team would give him the ball to try and run up the score. The fact that he was still playing at this point of the game was a display of poor sportsmanship. At the end of the game the kids said " I'M NOT SHAKING THEIR HANDS", in which we repllied, "yes you will, be good sports, let us take care of the rest." As we finished shaking hands the head coach of our team went to talk to the head coach of the opposing team. I am unsure what was said, but I kow the point our coach wanted to make. That is poor sportsmanship and a pathetic display of it. I kept saying to the kids, "don't worry about it, we play kids our own age", which I also said to the coach while he was laughing it up on the bench.
Tattoos in the NBA
Tattoos have become more accepted in society today. In the NBA tattoos have almost become a right of passage. With players like Chris "Birdman" Anderson with an almost full body tattoo art there are probably more players with tats in the NBA than without. When you make enough money to do whatever you want and do not have to worry about job interviews, tattoos are one of the choices NBA players choose to spend their hard earned money on.
My Top 5 Favorite Players (not in order)
1. Shaq O'Neil- 7'1 325lbs and very funny. Most dominate post center.
2. Nate Robinson- 5'9 with major ups. Dunk contest winner and not a bad guard. Anyone whos 1'' taller than me and can slam it home is ok in my book
3. Blake Griffin- 6'10 251 lbs and can jump like Nate just a lot taller. BG is known for his amazing dunks and is a emotional player who brings excitement to the game
4. Ray Allen- 6'5 and gettin up there in age but his 3 point game is as young as ever. A pure sharp shooter
5. Derrick Rose- 6'3 and can move! one of the fastest in the game. Rose can also slam it home with authority.

Kevin Love steps on Houstin Rockets face
Was Kevin Love's foot lost or did he mean to step on Luis Scola’s face?
Love did appologize after the game and stated, " "I have size-19 feet. He just happened to be there. I had nowhere to go. I kind of tripped up. I just had nowhere to step. It was a heat-of-the-moment type play. He was there and it happened to be his face."
The refs did not see what happened but the leauge will decide whether suspention is the required action to take or not.
Personally I lost a little respect for Love but I do not beleive that it was intintional.

Blake Griffin as a player
Blake Griffin has been criticized for being an overated player. Here is my View on it.
#1. He can run the lenght of the court and keep up with any guard (speed wise) on the court
#2. He gets rebounds (one of the most important jobs as a Power Forward)
#3. Other than scoring off of lobs and fast breaks, he can also score from the post and make the occasional 3.
#4. His size and ability demand double teaming at times which opens up other players
#5. It is only his 2nd year playing in the league and his stats are as follows
PPG
21.4
RPG
11.00
APG
3.0 When traditionally your point guards and centers are the main scorers, and BG is pullin in on average 21.4 points per game. What more could you want from your Power Forward. He is only a Sophmore in the NBA and will only get better.

Gators Basketball Team Loses agains #1 Ranked Kentucky
The 78-58 Lose for the Gators on Febuary 7 was not a great surprise. If any team is to beat the Wildcats they will have to play nothing but their best, and the Wildcats will have to play anything short of their best.
Some of the Wildcats scorers were:Sophomore guard Doron Lamb who scored 18 points, hitting 4-for-5 from 3-point range,60 percent from the arc. Freshman forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist scored 13 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and classmate Marquis Teague gained 12 points and 10 assists, as the Wildcats won their 16th straight game to extend the nation’s longest home-winning streak to 49.
Gators shot season-lows of 34.9 percent from the floor and 22.2 percent from deep. 6-foot-10 freshman center Anthony Davis(Wildcats) was a big factor in this game with 16 points, six rebounds, blocked four shots, and had two steals. UF's Center Patric Young had 12 points and four rebounds. Davis's defence made it difficult for the Gators to feed Young downlow, which caused poor shots to be taken from the outside.
Erving Walker (UF senior) Point Guard, was 0-11 on the court and had one assist and one turnover. This is the only time since Dec.30 2008 (freshman year) that Walker has been scoreless.
There is a reason Kentucky is ranked #1 overall.“Listen, they’re very, very good,” Donovan said. “There’s not like one thing you necessarily can do against them.” Which is why Kentucky has kept thier #1 spot thus far. Lets see if the outcome is the same when the Wildcats go to The Swamp to play in March.
